The Brooklyn Crescents Lacrosse Club, a 501c3 not-for-profit, is seeking a dynamic Executive Director with experience in sports or youth program management. The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors and will coordinate the year round day to day activities of our growing youth sports organization. 

Founded in 2006 the Crescents is dedicated to offering quality lacrosse programs in Brooklyn for boys and girls from Pre-K to 12th grade from across the New York City Metropolitan area and beyond. The Crescents run year-round lacrosse teams and clinics.

The Crescents’ players and volunteer coaches reflect the diverse neighborhoods of NYC. The Crescents strive to make lacrosse accessible by introducing the game to children picking up a stick for the first time, as well as, providing quality instruction and competition for more advanced players. Crescents' teams play throughout the Tri-State area in the spring and fall. Crescents alumni have gone on to play at local high schools, boarding schools and at the college level. The Crescents’ dedicated volunteer coaching staff is experienced and professionally trained, focused on developing a love for the great game of lacrosse.

Qualifications:

  • 4 year college degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, Sports Marketing, Sports Medicine or other related degrees
  • 4 to 5 years working experience with sports-related degree or 8+ years experience without
  • Self-motivated
  • Well organized
  • Strong communication skills and comfort level engaging with a variety of stakeholders
  • Able to work from home
  • Comfortable communicating via social media and updating organization’s digital profile
  • Must be able to work weekends and nights
  • Flexible schedule
  • Able to lift 50 lb.
  • Have a valid drivers license & working car
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • US Citizen or appropriate work visa

 

Responsibilities

Programs:

  • Manage all logistics of practices, games, and tournaments
  • Manage and coordinate with Program Directors
  • Develop and update program calendar
  • Manage registration for all programs
  • Respond to registration emails and questions
  • Follow up with participants on fee payments and US Lacrosse status
  • Run check-in and update registration
  • Provide and update team rosters to directors and coaches
  • Recruit and manage coaches and parent volunteers
  • Review coach background checks
  • Schedule coaches trainings including US Lacrosse Convention and CPR training
  • Permit management across facilities
  • Coordinate  and direct after-school programs
  • Outside vendor coordinator: Camps, Clinics and Travel teams
  • High School partnership coordinator

Communications:

  • Act as main point of contact for all parents, players, coaches, and partnering organizations
  • Manage organization-wide calendar
  • Work with the board and volunteers to develop communications campaigns
  • Send organization-wide e-mails
  • Update weather hotline
  • Administer end of season survey
  • Oversee marketing and outreach to the lacrosse community and the larger Metropolitan community with a focus on non-traditional areas and players

Fundraising:

  • Work with the board and volunteers to develop and manage fundraising events
  • Seek out and write grants requests
  • Develop relationships with key donors

 

Oversee Scholarship Program:

  • Review applications
  • Respond to applicants
  • Track aid awarded
  • Update registrant profiles with aid awarded

Operations:

  • Obtain field permits and serve as point person for field contacts
  • Create and distribute emergency action plans
  • Work with financial committee
  • Secure appropriate insurance for all club activities
  • Develop and update needed reports to keep the board & key volunteers informed and engaged
  • Purchasing and manage: Equipment, Uniforms & Merchandise
